Places of Interest
Jerusalem:
Capital of Israel and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is home to many religious sites, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the site most Christians believe to be the location of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus.
Mount of olives:
Jesus spent time here, teaching to his disciples. He also visited on the night of his betrayal by one of his diciples, Judas.
Garden of Gethsemane:
Lying at the foot of the Mount of Olives, this is the site where Jesus and his disciples came to pray the night before the crucifixion.
Mount Zion:
The Cenacle, believed to be the site of Jesus' Last Supper is located on Mount Zion, in the same building that holds the Tomb of King David.
Qumram:
Hiding place of the Dead Sea Scrolls. These scrolls, discovered in the 20th Century consist of approximately 1000 parchment Biblical documents, made before 100 A.D.
Mount of Beatitudes:
Where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount, including the eight well-know Beatitudes.
Cana of Galilee:
Site of the wedding chapel, where Jesus performed a miracle and turned water into wine.
Nazareth:
Childhood home of Jesus. The Church of Annunciation is in Nazareth, whre the Virgin Mary was visited by Archangel Gabriel, and told she had been selected to be the mother of Jesus.
Bethlehem:
Birthplace of Jesus, and the home of the Church of the Nativity, which was built on the site of Jesus' birth. it is one of the oldest continually operating churches in the world.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival to Jerusalem, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem.
Day 2
Enjoy the spectacular panoramic view from the Mount of Olives. Descend, and visit the Church of Ascension and Dominus Flevit. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of All Nations. Continue on to Bethlehem, for Holy Mass at the Church of Nativity. Visit the Shepherds Fields before returning to Jerusalem. Proceed to Ein Karem to visit the Churches of St. John and the Church of the Visitation.
Day 3
Drive to Mt. Zion; visit the Room of the Last Supper and the Dormition Church. Continue to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Drive to the Lion’s Gate; visit the Church of St. Anne and Pool of Bethesda. Walk along the Via Dolorosa via the Ecce Homo Arch to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where we will attend Holy Mass. Walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Western Wall, and through the oriental bazaars to the Jaffa Gate.
Day 4
Enjoy a stroll to the Garden of Gethsemane for Holy Mass. Drive through the Judean Wilderness to the Dead Sea region to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls have been found. At the Dead Sea – the lowest point of Earth enjoy a “dip”. (Optional visit to Massada - ascend/descend by cable car - visit this famous fortress of King Herod`s period).
Day 5
Day at leisure.
Day 6
Depart Jerusalem. Visit the Church of Resurrection at Abu Ghosh. Drive over the Judean Hills and Sharon plain, to Na`in, and visit the Church. Continue to Mt. Mabor, ascend to the top and back down again by taxis. Celebrate Holy Mass at the Church of Transfiguration. Proceed through the lower Galilee Region to the Sea of Galilee. Overnight in Tiberias.
Day 7
Drive to Mt. of Beatitudes and celebrate Holy Mass. Drive to Tabgha with the Church of Multiplication of loaves and fish on the lakeshore and the Church of Primacy. Continue to Capernaum. Enjoy a boat ride of the Sea of Galilee to Ein Gev. Continue to Kursi on the eastern shores of the Sea of Galilee, and ascend to Mevo Hama – a terrific viewpoint on the whole region.
Day 8
Drive to visit Cana of Galilee and visit the Weddings Church. Continue to Nazareth and celebrate Holy Mass at the Church of Annunciation. Drive to Yardenit, a Baptismal site on the River Jordan. Return to Tiberias.
Day 9
Drive through the Galilee Mountains to see Haifa. Visit the Carmelite Monastery from where you can enjoy a panoramic view over the city and bay. After Holy Mass at the Carmelite Monastery, we will drive on the Carmel Mountain range to visit the Church in Muhraka. Continue on via Ceasarea, the Valley of Armageddon to Tiberias.
Day 10
Transfer from your hotel in Tiberias to Allenby back to your home
